A new report released by the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) reveals auto insurance rates have increased 4 percent . According to the report, the increase in the cost of insurance premiums rose between March 2010 and March 2011.

Increases Across All Types of Coverage

The BLS report took a sample of coverage costs for 768 policies spread across the the pricing areas of the Consumer Price Index. The coverage types included in the report were:

  • Collision
  • Comprehensive
  • Bodily injury liability
  • Property damage liability
  • Medical payments
  • Uninsured motorist
  • Personal injury protection

The report found that rates increased 4 percent over a year’s time for all coverage types. I
